Most of us make things. From email to code to ad campaigns, we write, design, craft. Increasingly, we can't touch or taste the things we make. For all the time and energy they take, nothing seems very real and satisfaction may be fleeting.
Craving something tangible, we reach for the glue, the scissors, the glitter. Anything to remember the feeling of really making something. An origami swan. A bird house. A tea cosy. The lure of something handmade is strong – even for those who don't think of themselves as particularly crafty.
By making actual things, one at a time, or supporting those that do, we're forging real connections and real stories with every stitch, teaspoon and nail.
