Masterfile’s contributing artists earn their livelihoods from creating and licensing images. We strive to protect their interests and copyright by signing exclusive licensing agreements with each artist for all the images they supply to us. Under those agreements they have assigned their copyright to Masterfile and we have registered those copyrights with the U.S. Copyright Office in Washington, DC.

We have mandated PicRights and its legal counsel around the world to identify and resolve cases of copyright infringement on behalf of Masterfile. Each prospective case is checked by rights clearance personnel at Masterfile to verify whether any license was issued for the suspected infringement before we authorize PicRights to proceed with a case.
