In 2018, the United Nations declared June 3 International World Bicycle Day as a means to celebrate everyone’s favourite two-wheeler. This wonderful mobility tool has been enjoyed for over 200 years and it’s often equated with freedom, self-reliance and independence. The bicycle is not just a way to get your heart rate up or to get from Point A to Point B—it’s an important tool for people and the planet, fostering economic and community development.

More than one billion people around the world don’t have paved roads nor other means of inexpensive transportation and often travel far distances by foot to access education, healthcare, water, food and work. A well-equipped bike is fun, efficient, healthy, sustainable and can open up access to essential services, transforming lives and communities, one ride at a time.
