The 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala! According to the Pantone Color Institute, it’s a “hearty, yet stylish tone [that] is universally appealing”. It’s a color that’s not quite red or brown or purple but hiding in between them all. It’s the shade of Instagrammed brick walls, Lychee fruit skin and that lipstick that goes with everything. It’s reminscent of the paint on old barns and likely several objects in your favorite antique store, yet still manages to appear modern and timeless. A serious, challenging color, it’s taken a few weeks to grow on us. It’ll be interesting to see how it's picked up in design, packaging and consumer merchandise over the next few months. Check out our selection of images inspired by Marsala.
