Camping is a fast, fun and often economical way of grabbing some downtime and exploring nature at its most inspirational. Sleeping outside in near total darkness, away from technology and light pollution, is a relatively easy way to experience awe, which researchers believe is necessary for creativity.

Spend the day hiking gorges, seeing waterfalls, walking in the woods or exploring caves. Spotting your first shooting star, learning the names of never before seen constellations and hearing wolves howl can be jaw-dropping, humbling and maybe even a little scary. Summer camps, weekend getaways, outdoor retreats and backpacking trips are the places where the seeds planted in your subconscious take root and bloom.
