The dramatic Awash Falls are situated in the Awash National Park. The huge volume of water from one of Ethiopias largest rivers drops over a series of falls as it enters a large gorge. Rising in the Ethiopian Highlands, the river flows for about 750 miles before dissipating in a series of alkaline lakes in low lying Afar country close to the Ethiopian andf Djibouti border.
